Shortage of doctors in Kazakhstan Decreased by 19% by the end of 2024

In 2024, the shortage of doctors decreased by 19% - from 4,864 to 3,954 specialists, and the shortage of secondary medical workers decreased by 7%, from 4,820 to 4,505, the Ministry of Health reported at a board meeting.
Therapists, general practitioners, obstetricians-gynecologists, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, surgeons and pediatricians remain on the list of the most scarce specialists.
In order to consolidate the human resources of the healthcare sector at the legislative level, social support measures have been taken in the village. To date, lump-sum payments have been made to 207 medical workers in acute shortage specialties.
In addition, 544 doctors who arrived at their permanent workplaces, including 226 graduates of 2024, received social support measures.
In order to legally protect medical workers, including 164 thousand specialists, a Law on professional liability insurance was adopted.
The Ministry of Health has increased quotas for the training of specialized specialists from 1,500 to 2,500 places and is introducing a national personnel accounting system (KES 2.0) for the even distribution of specialists across regions.
