2025 is a year of special significance for our country in the preservation, development and support of national cultural heritage. This is an important milestone for all our compatriots, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. This unique public institution plays an important role in strengthening interethnic harmony and uniting different ethnic groups into a single community of the people of Kazakhstan.
The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has become the main organization in the development of the principle "The people of Kazakhstan are one nation". One of the important regions in this regard is East Kazakhstan. Our region is a vivid example of the prosperity of multi-ethnic culture in conditions of peace and harmony. In 1992, the first House of Friendship in the country was opened in the East region. Since then, East Kazakhstan has been a leading region in the creation of ethnocultural associations and Houses of Friendship.
Today, cultural, scientific and other projects of great social importance are being implemented in the House of Friendship. Among them are the first ethno-village, the “Friendship Caravan” project, the Language School, and the Museum of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. These initiatives contribute not only to the promotion of the native culture of different ethnic groups, but also to the formation of an effective platform for interethnic interaction.
The House of Friendship of East Kazakhstan plays a special role in strengthening the stability and unity of the people of the region. For more than thirty years, this institution has become a unique center that allows representatives of different ethnic groups to unite for a common goal and work for the good of the country. In recent years, the House of Friendship has become an important platform for young people, local communities, and non-governmental organizations, creating favorable conditions for public meetings, exchanges of views, and the implementation of social and cultural projects.
The successful work of public structures in the Assembly is a clear proof of our words. Today, 115 Elders' Councils, 114 Mothers' Councils, the Mediation Center, and the “Assembly Youth” organization are actively operating in the region. These structures are expanding interaction at the local level and contributing to strengthening social stability and harmony.
Supporting the good initiatives of youth is one of the priorities of the Houses of Friendship. In 2022, the Youth Coworking Center was opened at the East Kazakhstan Regional House of Friendship. This center has become a platform for civil activists, non-governmental organizations and youth associations to implement creative and social projects.
In addition, the Youth Theater of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan is operating. It features performances by adolescents from large families and children from orphanages. The “Hospitable Family” project, which has been implemented since 2023, is aimed at adapting children to the Kazakh language environment. This initiative not only provides children with the opportunity to use the Kazakh language in everyday life, but also introduces them to national culture more deeply, and also strengthens interethnic relations.
Special attention is paid to the preservation and development of the Kazakh language. Last year, 25 Kazakh language clubs called “Come, Let's Talk” were opened on the basis of 11 language schools in the region. Their goal is to improve the ability to speak fluently in Kazakh. In addition, 74 Kazakh language training centers operate in villages, and in the future it is planned to increase their number to 100.
In addition, the “Small School Assembly” project is being implemented in the region. This initiative covers 64 schools in the region and contributes to establishing interethnic dialogue among students. The “School Mediation Service”, launched in 2019, currently operates in 174 schools, helping to peacefully resolve disputes between teenagers and strengthen social unity.
In the framework of the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, one of the main tasks is to upgrade the material and technical base of Friendship Houses and support ethnocultural associations. Additional funding allocated for raising salaries, holding various events, and improving infrastructure will allow the activities of the Friendship Houses to reach a new level.
The role of the Friendship Houses in maintaining stability in the country and forming different ethnic groups as a single nation is unique. Today, it is especially important to form a public identity, promote the ideology of patriotism and respect for ethnic diversity.
For 30 years, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has led our country to great achievements, laid the foundation for strengthening interethnic harmony and increasing our well-being. The projects and initiatives implemented on the basis of the Friendship Houses are helping each ethnic group find its place and creating conditions for the development of Kazakhstan as a multicultural, single nation.
