Today, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev arrived in Katon-Karagai district on a working visit and got acquainted with the construction of the international airport. The airport's runway will exceed 2,000 meters. This will allow aircraft with a capacity of up to 70 passengers, such as the ATR-72 and Q-400 Bombardier. In addition, it is planned to open direct flights from Almaty, Astana and other major cities. The construction work is scheduled to be completed in October 2025.
