In line with the Head of State’s instructions, the Anti-Corruption Agency continues its efforts to ensure the principle of legality and order in society, as well as to prevent corruption.

On March 20, the court in Taraz convicted the acting head of the Transport Control Inspection of Zhambyl Region D. Kemelov.

The official was found guilty of repeatedly accepting bribes ranging from KZT 100,000 to KZT 450,000 from the owners and drivers of cargo trucks, M. Mamirov, N. Abdullaev and Y. Kanatov, in exchange for facilitating the unhindered movement across the region.

In addition to giving a bribe, M. Mamirov acted as an intermediary in delivering the bribe from N. Abdullaev and Y. Kanatov to Kemelov.

D. Kemelov was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment, M. Mamirov to 3 years of imprisonment and the bribe-givers N. Abdullaev and Y. Kanatov were fined KZT 5.6 mlneach.

The convicted individuals are permanently banned from holding positions in the public service and in quasi-governmental institutions.

The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force.

In accordance with subparagraph 1 of paragraph 3 of Article 77 of the Constitution and part 1 of Article 19 of the Criminal Procedure Code, everyone is presumed innocent until their guilt is established by a legally effective court verdict.
