А meeting of artisans with deputies of the Mazhilis of Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Trade and Integration, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs took place in the creative hub of Kossy. The event was chaired by the Secretary of the Committee on Social and Cultural Development of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Nurgul Tau.

The main topic of the dialogue was government support for creative industries, in which handicrafts is one of the priorities and occupies a third of the entire creative market. Today, about 46 thousand handicraft subjects are registered in Kazakhstan.

Historically, the centers of handicrafts were concentrated in the south of the country: Turkestan, Taraz, Shymkent. Moreover, the city of Turkestan has recently received the status of a "City of artisans." According to the Law on the "Special Status", a system for reimbursing artisans from 10 to 25% of the local budget is provided.

Speaking to the participants of the meeting, Vice Minister of Culture and Information Yevgeny Kochetov noted that a second package of measures to support the creative industry is currently being considered, including tools to support artisans.

Other issues of handicrafts were also discussed at the meeting. In particular, the provision of exhibition sites and the commercialization of artisan products.

It should be recalled that a law on the support and development of creative industries was adopted this year. The Budget Code was also signed, according to which the unified lottery operator will quarterly allocate 3% of the proceeds to the Corporate Fund for Support of the Development of Creative Industries, which will begin operating in July this year.

Also at the meeting, Deputy Amanzhol Altay proposed the establishment of the Artisan Day and the National Award "Halyk Sheberi" in Kazakhstan. The issue will be considered at a meeting of the Committee for Social and Cultural Development of the Mazhilis of Parliament.
