Vienna, April 2, 2025 – A ceremonial event marking Nauryz – the celebration of spring, renewal, and harmony – was held at the Vienna Office of the United Nations. The event was organized by the Permanent Missions of Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

Guests from all 193 UN Member States had a unique opportunity to experience the cultural traditions of the countries where Nauryz is celebrated. The festive atmosphere was enriched by folk music, national cuisine, and traditional attire that reflected the spirit of the region’s peoples.

Recognized by UNESCO in 2009 as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and officially proclaimed as an International Day by the UN General Assembly in 2010, Nauryz has become a symbol of cultural understanding. It serves as a reminder of the enduring importance of mutual respect, solidarity, and peaceful coexistence as foundations of international cooperation and unity among nations.
