Training Course on Functional Testing of Access Control Systems at Nuclear Facilities Held in Ust-Kamenogorsk

From August 24 to 29, 2026, a training course entitled “Functional Testing of Access Control Systems at Nuclear Facilities” was held in Ust-Kamenogorsk at the Crisis Training Center of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was organized within the framework of the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program with the participation of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Committee for Atomic Supervision and Control of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy (hereinafter referred to as the Committee).
The training was attended by specialists from the Committee, the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC, Ulba-TVS LLP, and the Mangystau Nuclear Power and Energy Complex LLP.
The main objective of the course was to enhance the professional training of specialists in the field of nuclear physical security, improve practical skills in planning, conducting, and documenting functional tests of access control systems, and strengthen knowledge in the field of physical protection of nuclear facilities.
The course contributes to further enhancing the professional competence of specialists and improving the nuclear physical security system of nuclear facilities in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Upon completion of the training, participants strengthened their theoretical knowledge and practical skills and received internationally recognized certificates.
