Today the Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek presented at the opening of the rink of the Ice Arena for 3 000 seats, which will be used in the student sports competitions "Universiade – 2017".

90% of domestically produced materials, as explained by the management of the finishing phase, were used in the construction and overall of the rink, and a high-class specialists were involved as well. In total, in the construction of the Ice Arena for 3 000 seats 1.5 thousand people was involved.

"Now it is necessary to increase the amount of main ice, and then to invite professional athletes who will test it and give their qualitative assessment. All the Universiade objects have been built on behalf of the Head of the state N.A. Nazarbayev. The city should develop children's sports, as well as mass and professional sports. There must be such objects in the city that will further help our athletes to achieve good results," - the Mayor said.

The facility will be used primarily for winter sports such as figure skating, short track speed skating, hockey, etc. As of today, a schedule for sports training for hockey clubs, amateur and youth ice hockey, skating, etc has been formed. Thus, the management aims to encourage regular attendance of such arenas by the residents of the city.

"We are expecting to put the object into operation at the end of August. The facility will be available for residents by October. All projects meet the highest technological requirements. One of the criteria that we included is assessment of energy efficiency. Now we are not just interested in operating high class imported equipment with good ratings. The most important thing is to determine whether it is going to allow us to keep the sufficient consumption of expensive energy costs in the future, which will make the arena available to everyone", - the Head of the Directorate of sports facilities of Almaty Sergey Apenko said.

It is worth mentioning that after completion of the work at the facility about two hundred jobs will be created, including the employment needs of tenants who are involved in the maintenance and engineering of cafes and gyms.
