Development of public procurement and competition in the EAEU
16.11.2024 18:15:03 2556Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Janelle Kushukova met with Maxim Ermolovich, a member of the Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Astana.
During the meeting, issues of public procurement, antimonopoly regulation, as well as the current agenda of the Eurasian economic integration were discussed.
Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Janelle Kushukova paid special attention to the issues of price monitoring by the EEC during the period of the anti-dumping measure against goods and Kazakhstan's proposal to consolidate in the EAEU Treaty the right of affected economic entities to apply to the courts of the participating countries with claims for damages.
"The possibility of filing a claim for damages is provided for by the legislation of the EAEU countries, but is rarely used due to lack of awareness. The consolidation of this norm in the EAEU Treaty will help to influence unscrupulous participants and support conscientious ones," Janelle Kushukova explained during the meeting.
The initiative of the Kazakh side to consolidate this norm on the appeal of an economic entity with a claim for damages to the court of the EAEU member state was generally supported by Maxim Ermolovich, a member of the EEC Board.
In the near future, the Eurasian Economic Commission will begin to develop appropriate amendments to the EAEU Treaty.
