An excursion into history was organized for readers of library No. 4 in Almaty. The event called "Eternal Glory to the Great Victory!" gathered the library's readers and became a real excursion into the heroic past. The participants got acquainted with the works dedicated to the exploits of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, and were also able to personally communicate with veterans.
Batai Kabylov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Almaly district, and Serik Akhmedov, a labor veteran, shared their memories. They told about the difficult years of service and the exploits of their comrades. Ongarbek Sydykbekov, a combat veteran, told about the events on Damansky Island in 1969, and Duan Umarov and Roman Yun touched on the topic of the Afghan war.
For college students and high school students, meeting the heroes was not just an introduction to history, but an important lesson in courage, emphasizing the need to remember, honor and be proud of the exploits of their ancestors.
As part of the event, a book exhibition "The Great Victory — a Call to Posterity" was organized in the reading room, as well as a historical and educational quiz "Echo of the Fiery Years". The winners of the quiz received valuable books as a gift.
"The Great Patriotic War is one of the most tragic and heroic pages in history, which became a test for millions. The exploits performed at the front and in the rear embody perseverance, heroism and love for the Motherland. The Great Victory is not just a date, it is a symbol of freedom and independence, won at the cost of huge sacrifices. The main objective of the event is the preservation of historical memory, the formation of patriotic consciousness among young people, love for the Fatherland and respect for the past," said Aliya Inkarbek, head of Branch No. 4 of the Almaty Libraries.
