Today in Astana international seminar on the topic "Measurements for transport" was held, which was timed to the celebration of World Metrology Day.



The seminar was organized by the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KTRM WORLD RK), RGP "Kazakhstan Institute of Metrology" in conjunction with JSC "National Company" Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. "



The seminar was attended by state bodies, international experts - representatives of international and regional metrology organizations: the International Bureau of Legal Metrology, the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, regional metrology organizations of Eurasia, Africa and America.



Every year, international metrology organizations announce the theme and motto of the World Metrology Day celebration. In the current year, the role of measurements in the development of the transport industry is at the centre of attention.



Representatives of the national metrology institutions acquainted the participants with the work being done, creating and validating new measurement technologies, for the needs of industries of any level and complexity, namely innovations such as hydrogen fuel tanks, electric cars or fuel-efficient new generation passenger aircraft.



Among the most demanded measurements for transport were speed measurements of cargo containers, which make it possible to ensure the safety of transportation by sea freight transport. In addition, to date, reliable measurements of the chemical composition of exhaust gases are important, used to control the level of environmental pollution.



This seminar helped to draw the attention of a wide range of the public to the important role of metrology in the development of economic sectors and to discuss topical issues of metrological support, to exchange experience, and to encourage leading metrologists of industries for professional achievements.



At the end of the seminar, the results of the Kazakhstan competition ("The Best Measuring Device of the Year") were announced.
