Promotional materials and videos are being distributed on social networks offering citizens to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of other states for monetary rewards.

"The Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for criminal liability measures for participation in armed conflicts. The intentional unlawful participation of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan in an armed conflict or military operations on the territory of a foreign state in the absence of signs of mercenary activity (Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan) is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to nine years. Depending on the severity of the act, mercenary activity (Article 170 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan) is punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven years or life imprisonment with or without deprivation of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with confiscation of property," the ministry warned.
