A meeting on strategic planning in the field of sustainable development of Kazakhstan for 2021-2025 was held in Nur-Sultan
14.04.2025 09:35:04 1515On October 15, 2019, a meeting on strategic planning in the field of sustainable development, organized by UN agencies, was held in Nur Sultan.
The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, the UN country team, civil society and academics.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Norimasa Shimomura, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main speakers were the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev, the Representative of the UN Children's Fund "UNICEF" in the Republic of Kazakhstan Arthur Van Diesen.
The meeting was dedicated to the new Framework Program for Partnership for Sustainable Development for 2021-2025 between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations.
The Framework Program is based on cooperation between the Government of Kazakhstan and the United Nations on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs or 2030 Agenda). These are 17 goals until 2030, identified by 193 UN member states to improve the quality of life of citizens, stimulate socio-economic development and establish the environmental sustainability of the states. Achievement of these goals is determined through an assessment of effectiveness of the implementation by Member States of 169 targets. Moreover, the assessment is carried out on 242 indicators.
