The Department of Trade and Consumer Rights Protection (STKPD) held a briefing on the results of its work in 2024 in the Shymkent city administration building. The deputy head of the department, Ospan Abiyev, gave a report to the city mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov and noted that the number of received applications reached 5882. According to Abiyev, every complaint is a violation of consumer rights, such as buying a low-quality product or not having enough information about the product.

The more complaints, the better the result

Last year, with the support of the Department, more than 266.4 million tenge were returned to consumers. There are still pending cases, and specialists are actively working to ensure that every request is not ignored.

The opinion of the Shymkent City Police Department specialist:

"We notice that citizens often know their rights and are not afraid to ask for help. Working with complaints is not only about returning money, but also helps to increase the responsibility of entrepreneurs to consumers."

During the briefing, Ospan Abiyev emphasized the special importance of cooperation with public organizations. These organizations not only support consumers in writing the application correctly, but also protect them in front of manufacturers and sellers. In addition, a proposal to allocate a special grant for the work of these organizations was discussed - this will be a step aimed at increasing the literacy of the population in the field of consumer rights protection.
