The construction of a new airport has started in the Zaisan district of the East Kazakhstan region. The project is implemented within the framework of the task of the Head of State on the development of aviation infrastructure in the resort regions of the country.
"After the construction of the airport is completed and the facility is put into operation, it is planned to open international routes to the Chinese cities of Urumqi, Altai and Kanas. Internal routes to Astana, Almaty and Uskemen will provide stable air connections, open up new opportunities for business and improve the mobility of the country's residents," said the head of the transport department Marat Karabaev.
Uskemen is the transport center of the SKO
In addition to the construction of a new airport, large-scale modernization of transport infrastructure is underway in the region. In 2024, five railway stations in East Kazakhstan region, including Uskemen-1 railway station, are planned to be overhauled.
New infrastructure projects will strengthen East Kazakhstan as a strategically important transport hub and open new prospects for the development of tourism, economy and international cooperation.
