Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev toured the ice rink "Medeu" and got acquainted with a photo exhibition that tells the history of the unique object located in a mountain gorge.

The ice rink has a special place in the history of world sports. The presidents were told that in 1972-1991, 247 records were set for all distances in competitions held here between women and men. "Medeu" is still one of the most popular tourist facilities in Kazakhstan. In the season of 2024-2025, 460,000 people visited the ice rink.

A new development project aimed at turning Medeu into a world-class center with a sustainable tourism model was presented to the heads of state. This year, he won the last two rounds of the World Cup and won the prize at the Asian Games. At the recently held Kazakhstan Sports Games, the athlete won clearly and broke the unofficial world record in the distance of 100 meters (9.31 seconds).

After that, the heads of states watched the performance of figure skating masters.
