The Vice Minister of Transport visited a number of transport infrastructure facilities in Ulytau region

During the airport inspection, the management of the organization reported to Vice-Minister Talgat Lastaev about the implementation of airport modernization and development activities within the framework of the comprehensive plan of socio-economic development of Ulytau region for 2022-2026. The airport, built in 1973, was renovated in 2005-2009. Today, the enterprise faces new strategic tasks, such as increasing the capacity and modernizing the airport infrastructure.

Renovation of the passenger terminal is planned as part of the project, which will allow to increase its capacity from 120 to 250 passengers per hour. At the same time, the repair works of the runway (2600 × 45 m) and apron are being carried out. Completion of construction and assembly works is planned for October this year.

By the end of 2024, the airport served more than 118,000 passengers. Currently, there are 16 regular flights to Astana, Almaty, Karaganda and Shymkent. State-subsidized air tickets on the Zhezkazgan - Karaganda and Zhezkazgan - Shymkent routes costing 10,000 and 18,000 tenge are provided.

Taking into account the complaints and suggestions of the citizens, the aircraft traveling on the Zhezkazgan - Karaganda route was changed from AN-24 to Bombardier Q-400. Today, subsidized flights are operated by "Qazaq Air" airline company.

The Vice-Minister noted that the implementation of infrastructure projects will improve the operational capabilities of the airport, expand the flight geography, increase the level of flight safety and the quality of passenger services. In this regard, he instructed to accelerate the work.

Also, the vice-minister got acquainted with the work of the Zhezkazgan railway station.

Zhezkazgan railway station, built in 1941, has an area of ​​524 square meters and serves 1800 passengers per day.  Currently, there are 7 pairs of passenger trains running on the territory of Ulytau region, which provide transport connections with Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Kyzylorda and Karaganda.
