In accordance with Article 46 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, life imprisonment may be imposed for the commission of serious crimes.

In the past period of 2025, three people were sentenced to life imprisonment in Mangistau region.

Thus, in January of this year The verdict against a person convicted of kidnapping, persuasion to use psychotropic substances, committing acts of sexual violence and extortion entered into force.

The fact of persuasion to use psychotropic substances (Part 4 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan) is directly causally related to the suicide of the victim with the above set of crimes.

In March of this year, another two people who committed acts of sexual violence against a young child were sentenced to life imprisonment (Part 4 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). according to the change, no other alternative than life imprisonment is provided.

These changes were adopted within the framework of strengthening responsibility for women's rights and ensuring the safety of children.
