Republic of Kazakhstan Commissioner for Human Rights Artur Lastaev held a meeting with associate professor Meiram Ayubaev, doctor of legal sciences with many years of experience in the criminal justice system.

During the meeting, issues of preserving the rights of detainees, persons in detention centers, convicts and citizens released from prisons were discussed. In addition, special attention was paid to scientific approaches to the development of the probation system in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the provision of human rights in the criminal-executive system.

Meyram Akatuliy Ayubaev is the author of more than 70 scientific works, including several monographs, devoted to the implementation of preventive functions in the criminal-executive system and social rehabilitation of citizens. In addition, he led working groups under the authorized state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and actively participated in the development of drafts of the 2014 Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Probation" and other regulatory legal acts in the field of criminal law. He also noted that he is ready to continue cooperation in order to improve human rights protection mechanisms and develop legislation in this direction.

Ombudsman Artur Lastaev thanked Professor Meiram Ayubaev for his scientific work and expressed his intention to continue cooperation.
