In Karaganda, police officers explained the dangers of drugs to schoolchildren
In general education school No. 62 in Karaganda, the Department of Anti-Drug Crime of the Police Department of Karaganda region held a lecture on preventive measures against drugs for students of grades 9-11. The main goal of the event is to prevent drug addiction among young people and increase their legal literacy.
- Today we are meeting with schoolchildren and conducting extensive explanatory work on the harm of drugs, their consequences and legal responsibility. Currently, due to the widespread development of social networks, teenagers are likely to encounter various illegal contents and even be used as drug carriers. In order to prevent such situations, we regularly hold such explanatory events, - said Nurym Sadvakasov, senior operative representative of the Department of Anti-Drug Crime.
During the meeting, students asked the police officers their questions and received clear and complete answers.
- Today's educational event is very important for us. Because the fight against drugs is a common task not only of law enforcement agencies, but of the whole society. I call on my classmates and all young people to resist drugs, said the 9th grade student Alexandra Rogozhnikova. Specialists of the Canine Center of the Karaganda Regional Police Department also took part in the event. They showed the training of service dogs in the direction of searching for and detecting narcotics and introduced the students to the intricacies of the profession.
It should be noted that in 2023 more than 243 kilograms of various narcotic substances were seized from illegal circulation during the complex search and rescue measures of the Department of Anti-Drug Crime, and in the first quarter of this year this figure exceeded 284 kilograms.
- The work of the Police Department in this direction is very important. I think so. Today, it is the common responsibility of parents, teachers and the society as a whole to make children choose the right path and avoid illegal activities. Therefore, I believe that holding such events from the school walls and showing students what is right and what is wrong will help them not to go astray and find the right path in the future, - said school director Bakytgul Kalekina.
