MORE THAN 600 THOUSAND TRANSIT AIR PASSENGERS CARRIED IN 2017

The main flow of transit passengers passing through Kazakhstan is observed on the routes from China to Europe, Turkey, Russia and Ukraine, between Europe and South Korea, from Ukraine to Uzbekistan and India, and Turkey and Uzbekistan," noted Minister of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek, who made a report at the Government meeting on the development of civil aviation.
In 2017, Kazakhstani airlines transported 620 thousand transit passengers. It is expected that 900,000 transit passengers will be transported in 2018.
"This year, Kazakhstan airlines are planning to open regular flights between Astana-Tyumen, Astana-Krasnodar, and from Astana to Vilnius, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Sochi, Batumi, and Dushanbe. Regular flights with foreign airlines (Air Baltic, Emirates, Fly Dubai, Angara, Aeroflot) will be opened on the Riga-Almaty, Dubai-Almaty, Dubai-Aktau, Krasnoyarsk-Almaty, Moscow-Kyzylorda routes," the minister said. In addition, during the EXPO-2017 exhibition, starting from June 7, 2017, by the Government's decision in the pilot mode, a 72-hour visa-free regime was introduced for citizens of the PRC transiting through Astana and Almaty airports with Kazakhstani airlines. Recently, it was extended until the end of 2018.
In order to further develop the transit potential, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the issue of an alternative regime for transit citizens of India and other countries is being considered.
There are 92 air routes with a length of 84,166 kilometers in the territory of Kazakhstan. 700 airplanes fly through it every day.
80% of transit transportation passes through the territory of our country on 12 main routes connecting Europe and South-East Asia.
