A prestigious international Kyokushin karate tournament was held in Toyama, Japan. The Karaganda region was represented by 11 fighters. The result is worthy: 16 medals, six of which are gold.

Kazakhstan's competitors were the strongest athletes from Japan, Russia, Germany and Korea.

– The Karaganda school proved itself vividly. We were able to win six gold medals. This is a great result, especially before the World Cup, which will be held in November in Australia. Five Karaganda athletes have already qualified for it. We are intensively preparing for the main starts of the year," says Timur Rayymbekov, head of the Kyokushin Karate Federation of the Karaganda region.

He took the gold himself. Ilya Opalev, Amira Rayymbekova, and Zhanetta Sultanova also took the first place in various disciplines. Vladimir Grinevetsky became the winner twice – in kata and kumite. His power superstroke is recognized as the best in an international tournament.

The silver and bronze medalists were Duman Baltabai, Amira Rayymbekova, Aruzhan Maden, Viktor Kuznetsov, Asem Shaugenbai, Jeanetta Sulatnova, Miloslav Parfenov.
