On April 17, 2025, Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, jointly with Karlygash K. Burunbetova, a senior manager of the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of the Teaching Excellence Center, held an interactive webinar for teachers of physics, chemistry, biology and geography from schools of the region, on the topic “Objectives for boosting natural science literacy in PISA research”. The event provided teachers of the region with recommendations on the preparation of assignments.

The goal of the webinar was to raise students’ functional scientific literacy, equipping teachers with tools and techniques on international research and analyzing examples of tasks aimed at developing scientific literacy.

During the webinar, the following materials were analyzed:

an international study assessing the level of functional literacy of schoolchildren;

aspects of natural science literacy;

environmental science competencies;

examples of tasks for the development of science literacy;

education in the digital age.
