Athens, 23 April 2025 – In Athens, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, Mr Timur Sultangozhin, met with Mr Ioannis-Miltiadis Nikolaidis, Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Prime Minister of Greece.

During the conversation, special attention was devoted to the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis, held in Baku in November 2024 on the margins of the COP-29 Climate Summit. The importance of consistently advancing joint initiatives within the agreed political course aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation was underlined.

The parties confirmed the high level of political trust between Astana and Athens and expressed mutual interest in intensifying bilateral dialogue, including the expansion of intergovernmental and interdepartmental interaction. It was also noted the potential for coordinating efforts in international and regional fora on issues of mutual interest, including in the context of global challenges.

Alongside the political dimension, the meeting highlighted the considerable potential for implementing joint projects in the trade-economic and transport-logistics spheres. In this context, the prospects for involving Greek businesses in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, utilising Greece’s port and maritime infrastructure for exporting Kazakhstan products, and organising a business mission of Greek companies to Kazakhstan as an important step towards strengthening business ties were discussed.

The sides agreed on the need to maintain regular dialogue and expressed confidence that the implementation of the discussed initiatives would further strengthen the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Kazakhstan and Greece.
