Astana hosted the meeting of the Kazakhstan–Austrian Business Council (KABC), organized as part of the visit by the delegation of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. The event served as a platform for discussing opportunities to expand economic ties, industrial cooperation, and the launch of joint projects in priority sectors.

From the Kazakh side, the meeting was attended by representatives of government bodies and national development institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Industrial Development Fund, KEGOC, the Foreign Trade Chamber of Atameken, and others. The Austrian delegation included over 15 companies operating in mechanical engineering, energy, environmental technologies, digital solutions, as well as logistics and engineering organizations.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Council co-chairs — Meiram Pshembayev, Chairman of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Kazakhstan, and Philipp Gady, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber — along with government officials from both countries, including Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria Mukhtar Tleuberdi, and Ambassador of Austria to Kazakhstan Andrea Bacher.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC KAZAKH INVEST" Madiyar Sultanbek presented Kazakhstan's investment potential. In his speech, he noted that Kazakhstan offers broad opportunities for the localization of high-tech production, especially in sectors such as green energy, mechanical engineering, raw material processing, and digitalization.

"Austria is among Kazakhstan’s reliable partners in the European Union. According to national statistics, the total volume of direct investment from Austria since 2005 has exceeded $3 billion, and 177 companies with Austrian participation are already registered in the country. Today, we see potential to move beyond traditional trade and propose deeper industrial cooperation, including the localization of high-tech production and joint implementation of export-oriented projects," he emphasized.

The session also featured short presentations by companies from both sides. Among the Austrian participants were Andritz Hydro, AFRY, AVL, Ecocom, Felder Group, Frequentis, ILF Consulting Engineers, PlanRadar, Primetals Technologies, and others. Kazakh companies showcased current projects in mechanical engineering, energy, processing, logistics, and construction.

The event concluded with B2B meetings between representatives of Kazakh and Austrian businesses. Discussions focused on specific mechanisms for project implementation, including opportunities through the Kazakhstan–Austria Intergovernmental Commission, cooperation within the Trans-Caspian route, and development of pilot initiatives under the green industrial agenda.
