As part of the "100 Days to Victory" campaign and in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, servicemen of military unit 6636 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited war and home front veterans to personally express their gratitude for their sacrifices.
The guardsmen visited war veterans Anatoly Burkov and Yekaterina Gorkovenko, congratulating them on Victory Day. The soldiers marched in formation and performed patriotic songs in honor of the heroes.
The veterans were presented with commemorative medals on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as a sign of deep respect and appreciation for their heroic contribution.
During the visit, the veterans offered heartfelt words and blessings to the servicemen of the National Guard.
- Today’s peace is the result of yesterday’s selfless struggle. It’s hard to put into words the horrors of war we endured. But the most important thing was — and still is — the unity of the people and their unbreakable spirit. I’m glad to see that spirit alive in you, - said war veteran Anatoly Alexandrovich, emotionally.
Home front worker Yekaterina Gorkovenko also expressed her gratitude to the guardsmen for their visit and heartfelt tribute.
- While the men were fighting on the front lines, we worked in the rear. We shared our last piece of bread and lived on the edge. Things are different now, but history must never be forgotten. Thank you to today’s generation for remembering us and honoring our legacy, - she said.
Such meetings are not only acts of respect toward veterans but also serve as powerful educational moments for the younger generation. They clearly demonstrate the continuity of generations, the strength of spirit, and true patriotism.
