In Astana, a military parade took place with the participation of the President of the Republic — Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, commemorating Defender of the Fatherland Day (May 7) and the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

— Among the National Guard formation marching in the parade were descendants of war veterans. They honor the memory of the heroes and carry their legacy. Our military equipment and weaponry are continuously modernized in line with current standards. Today’s parade clearly reflects this progress, — said Major General Bauyrzhan Abzhanov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, who led the parade formation.

Over 400 servicemen of the National Guard participated in the ceremonial march, including troops from military unit 5573 of the operational command and the elite special forces unit "Bürkit", who formed separate marching columns.

— I am a descendant of Victory — my grandfather was among those who brought us this historic day. I am proud of his wartime bravery. Today, I had the honor to march with my comrades in this parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, — shared a serviceman from Bürkit.

In addition, 30 representatives of the law enforcement forces, together with the combined orchestra of Kazakhstan’s security services, provided the musical accompaniment for the Victory Parade.

During the mechanized column’s procession, the National Guard showcased 13 modern armored vehicles, including:

  • “Barys” 6×6,

  • “Alan-2”,

  • “Cobra II” with enhanced combat protection,

  • and the “Ural-VV”, capable of transporting up to 17 personnel across dangerous terrain.

This year’s Victory Parade brought together 4,500 military personnel from the Armed Forces, other troops, and military formations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Notably, for the first time in history, battle flags of units originally formed on Kazakhstan’s territory were ceremonially carried, and troops marched in historical wartime uniforms, adding a special symbolic touch to the event.
