The grand opening of a new section of the Museum of Military Glory of the National Military-Patriotic Center, the Open-Air Museum, took place in Almaty. The event was held on the territory of the Army House (former Officers' House) with the participation of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Shaikh-Hassan Zhazykbayev, Deputy Akim of Almaty Azamat Kaldybekov, representatives of the armed forces and distinguished guests.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem. Welcoming remarks were made by representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the city administration. The military personnel who contributed to the creation of the new exhibition were noted. The symbolic moment of the event was the ceremonial ribbon cutting, after which the first tour of the exhibition area was conducted for the guests.
The new museum section is located on the adjacent territory on the side of Sh Street. Kaldayakova. More than 30 units of authentic and restored military equipment are located here in the open air. All samples have been restored and annotated with technical specifications and historical descriptions.
Among the exhibits are the legendary T-34 tank, which became a symbol of Victory, the BM-13 Katyusha multiple launch rocket system, as well as Soviet T-44 and T-55 tanks. The BTR-40, BRDM-1 and BRDM-2 armored personnel carriers, the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle, various howitzers, mortars, anti-aircraft and field guns are presented.
Rare foreign-made samples attract special attention.: 120 mm mortar "Finuleanu" (Sweden), 158 mm mortar "Kebelverch-41" (Germany) and 105 mm howitzer M-2A1 HOWITZER (USA). The exhibition is also complemented by artillery installations such as the 203 mm howitzer BL-39, 122 mm howitzer M-30, 100 mm field cannon BS-3, anti-aircraft guns ZPU-2 and S-60, mortars PM-120 and M-240, as well as other pieces of equipment used in different periods of history..
The Museum of Military Glory was founded in 1965 and remains one of the key centers of military-patriotic education in Almaty. His collection covers the military history of Kazakhstan from the 19th century to the present day. The collection is based on original documents, photographs, letters, awards and personal belongings of veterans. A significant part of the materials was given by the daughter of General Panfilov, a veteran of the Panfilov Division, Valentina Panfilova.
The museum is located in the building of the Army House at 24 Zenkova St., Medeu district, and covers an area of over 1,260 square meters. meters. The institution employs 15 specialists, and the annual attendance exceeds 25,000 people.
