In the Samara region, the memory of three Heroes of the Soviet Union, natives of the village of Podgornoye, was honored

As part of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region Nurymbet Saktaganov, together with village residents, took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to three Heroes of the Soviet Union - N. Ya. Fonov, S. Ye. Sednev and I. M. Yarotsky.

Nikolai Yakovlevich Fonov, gun commander of the 59th artillery regiment of the 30th rifle division of the 47th army of the Voronezh Front, participant in the Great Patriotic War from 1942. Fought on the Bryansk, North Caucasian, Voronezh, 1st Ukrainian fronts. For exemplary performance of combat missions and demonstrated courage and heroism, Sergeant N. Ya. Fonov was awarded the title of HERO OF THE SOVIET UNION in 1943 with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

Sergey Yegorovich Sednev, a motorman of the 23rd motorized pontoon bridge battalion of the 47th Army of the Voronezh Front, fought on the Bryansk, Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian Fronts from 1941. For courage and heroism demonstrated during the crossing of the Dnieper, Corporal S. E. Sednev was awarded the title of HERO OF THE SOVIET UNION in 19944, the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

Ivan Mikhailovich Yarotsky, the commander of a machine gun company of the 390th Marine Battalion, 13th Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, arrived at the Pacific Fleet in 1940 as a junior lieutenant. He took part in the war with Japan. For exemplary performance of combat missions, valor and courage, Senior Lieutenant I.M. Yarotsky was awarded the title of HERO OF THE SOVIET UNION in 1945 with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

As part of the event, the regional akim also presented the jubilee medal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" to home front worker Elizaveta Gavrilovna Bikbayeva.
