Memory Through the Years: Kazakhstan Commemorates the 80th Anniversary of Victory in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 9, 2025 - In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of India, Azamat Eskaraev, along with diplomats from the Embassy of Kazakhstan, took part in a solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument in the Indian capital.

The event was held at the memorial located at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India and brought together representatives of diplomatic missions from CIS countries.

Ambassador Eskaraev emphasized the historical significance of Victory Day and highlighted the immense contribution of the peoples of the former Soviet Union, including Kazakhs, to the defeat of Nazism. It was noted that more than 1.2 million Kazakh citizens were mobilized during the war, with over half never returning home. Five hundred Kazakhs were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and the laying of flowers in memory of the fallen.
