National Guard Troops Honored with State Awards for Courage and Service

In honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, ceremonial award presentations were held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Guard Headquarters.

Lieutenant General of Police Yerzhan Sadenov, Minister of Internal Affairs, personally presented the state awards and praised the current generation of defenders:

"I congratulate you on these two historic holidays, symbols of bravery — Defender’s Day and Victory Day. They reflect the heroism and unity of our people, as well as our duty to history. As the Head of State emphasized: ‘An independent nation must have reliable protection. Defending the Homeland is the sacred duty of every citizen.’ Today, police officers and National Guard servicemen fulfill this mission with honor.”

Among the awardees were service members recognized for everyday excellence as well as heroism in emergencies.

Award Highlights:

  •  The Order "Aybyn" II Degree, named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, was awarded to:

    • Colonel Nurlan Mukhamedov, Chief of Combat Training,

    • Colonel Atabek Salikhbayev, Deputy Commander for educational and social-legal work, Regional Command “Ontustik”,

    • Lieutenant Colonel Samed Kulakhmedov, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander, Military Unit 5546, Regional Command “Batys”.

  • Colonel Talgat Abdirov, Commander of Military Unit 6697, Regional Command “Ortalyk”, led a rapid-response flood evacuation in Kostanay Region in April 2024, organizing a 500+ km march and preventing the flooding of the village Tauysh. He received the “For Combat Merit” medal.

  • Colonel Rauan Usbanov, Commander of the 1st Training Battalion at the National Guard Academy and national-level best training commander of 2024, also received the “For Combat Merit” medal.

  • Senior Sergeant Orken Mazhit, Military Unit 7552, Regional Command “Ontustik”, prevented a violent street attack in Almaty on May 27, 2024. His quick actions led to the apprehension and conviction of the attackers. He received the “For Bravery” medal.

  • Sergeant Zhannat Khalilova, a controller with Military Unit 5517, Regional Command “Batys”, prevented an attempted smuggling of prohibited substances into a penal institution and was awarded the “For Combat Merit” medal.

Recognition in Numbers:

  • 50 National Guard troops and police officers were awarded state honors.

  • Over 1,200 servicemen were recognized by Ministerial orders for dedication, courage, and professionalism in maintaining public order and safety.

  • The Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard also presented new military ranks and certificates to several personnel.

These ceremonies are a testament to the high regard in which Kazakhstan holds those who protect the nation’s peace and security every day.
