On May 10, 2025, the international marathon race "Uly Dala Zhorygy", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, started for the first time in the Almaty region.

The marathon competition is attended by 13 teams from different regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 6 teams from abroad: Hungary, Iran, the Russian Federation (Tatarstan team), the African team and 2 teams from Kyrgyzstan. The 500-kilometer marathon race started near the city of Kunayev in the Almaty region and will last 5 days across the Balkhash and Ili districts.
