Brasília, May 12, 2025 – On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Brazil organized a photo exhibition of Kazakh heroes of World War II entitled “Memory of Victory: Unity of Generations and Nations.” The event was dedicated to the heroism, valor, and memory of Soviet soldiers and officers, and was held in celebration of Victory Day on May 9.

The event was attended by representatives of Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions from South American countries, members of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum, and local journalists. Before the exhibition opening, guests observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of World War II.

In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Bolat Nussupov, spoke about Kazakhstan’s contribution and the participation of Kazakh people in the Great Patriotic War. He highlighted their significant role in achieving Victory, as well as the heroic deeds of Kazakh war heroes whose anniversaries are being commemorated this year. The Ambassador emphasized that Kazakhstan carefully preserves the memory of its compatriots’ military and labor feats and holds in high esteem the names of those heroes who showed true examples of selflessness and courage.

During the exhibition, guests were presented with photographs of renowned heroes of the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan, such as Baurzhan Momyshuly, Talgat Begeldinov, Rakhimzhan Koshkarbaev, Aliya Moldagulova, and many others. The photos were accompanied by brief biographies and descriptions of their feats in Portuguese. The exhibition also featured a video presentation on the participation of Kazakhs in the war and the efforts of the home front workers. The event concluded with a buffet offering traditional Kazakh dishes.
