A three-day boxing tournament dedicated to the memory of Aybat Amanov, a soldier of the National Guard who heroically died in January 2022, has concluded in Zhanaarka District, Ulytau Region.

The competition brought together about 100 young athletes from Zhanaarka, Shet District, and Akadyr village, with more than 60 sets of medals contested across five weight categories.

The award ceremony was attended by the hero’s parents, veterans, servicemen of Military Unit 5514 of the "Ontustik" Regional Command, as well as representatives of the local government and public. A special prize from Amanov’s family was awarded to Yelaman Khainilzayat, winner in the 63 kg category. This year, for the first time, female boxers were also recognized.

  • - Heroes like Aybat Amanov are the pride not only of our district but of the entire country. Holding the tournament around Defender of the Fatherland Day (May 7) gives it special meaning. Youth should look up to such courageous sons of the nation. This event gave the kids invaluable experience and joyful memories. I believe this tournament should become a tradition, - said Amangeldy Tusupov, chairman of the local branch of the Amanat party.
  • - The tournament is being held for the third consecutive year. Previously, the special award always went to boys, but this year we also recognized the girls — they showed strong skills in the ring. We sincerely thank the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard leadership. I believe this tournament will become an annual national event, - said Gulnaz Alkenkyzy, mother of Aybat Amanov.

A Hero Remembered

In January 2022, during nationwide unrest, Privates Madiyar Kaysarov (Military Unit 5547, Kyzylorda) and Aybat Amanov (Military Unit 5514, Taldykorgan) sacrificed their lives shielding their fellow soldiers. Both were posthumously awarded the "Aibyn" Order III Class by Presidential decree, and the “Best Serviceman of the National Guard” breastplate by order of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Commander of the National Guard.

Their names are eternally inscribed in the personnel rolls of their units. Memorial plaques, billboards, commemorative stands, and museum displays have been dedicated in their honor.
