Legal consequences of drug-related offenses

The problem of drug addiction among young people in Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly urgent, and the scale of drug distribution and drug addiction among the population is reaching alarming levels.
One of the key areas of work of the Police Department of East Kazakhstan region remains the fight against drug offenses and the prevention of drug addiction.
In light of the growing concern for drug addiction among minors, Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, jointly with Police Major Sagatbek K. Maltugelov from Drug Control Administration of the Police Department of East Kazakhstan region, conducted an interactive lesson titled “Legal consequences of drug-related offenses”. This initiative aimed to raise awareness and prevent drug addiction and drug crimes among minors.
Sagatbek K. Maltugelov highlighted the core objectives and areas of work of his Administration. He outlined recent legislative updates concerning drug-related offenses, including the revision of penalties for first-time offenders involved in drug stash placement. He also delved into explanations of key articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on drug offenses - particularly those the most common for our region. Additionally, he clarified the age at which criminal liability for drug crimes begins and how June, 26 - the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is marked in our region.
