At one of the correctional facilities in the city of Taraz, servicemen of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan prevented an attempt to smuggle prohibited items into a restricted area.

During the inspection of a parcel delivered for a short-term visit, the guard unit servicemen, together with officers of the Criminal-Executive System Committee (KUIS), discovered one mobile phone and two USB charging cables hidden inside a pack of wet wipes in the parcel inspection and visitation control room (KDS).

The parcel was brought by a citizen who arrived for a short-term visit with an inmate.

The man who attempted to deliver the prohibited items will be held administratively liable. The seized items have been sent for examination.

It is worth noting that maintaining law and order in correctional institutions remains one of the key tasks of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
