With development of digital technologies, investing is available to everyone. Along with the growing interest in investments, there are activities of scammers disguised as financial experts. They are especially active through social networks.
One of the common scenarios is a fake investment platform. Scammers create websites that visually copy well-known companies or allegedly represent large banks.
Through active advertising on social networks, such “projects” promise high returns in a short period of time, sometimes with minimal investment. Often, fake reviews from “satisfied investors” are published under posts. Videos use images of famous personalities created with the use of neural networks.
Their main goal is to establish trust and convince people to invest money in a fake investment platform.
Signs of a fake platform:
- advertisement from unofficial accounts;
- the link does not lead to the official website but to a third-party resource;
- the promise of a “guaranteed” high income;
- an urge to act immediately;
- the need to download the application not through the AppStore or GooglePlay.
Recommendations:
- Check licenses of financial organizations on the website of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market.
- Do not trust advertisement without confirmation on the official websites of banks and companies.
- Do not send personal data or money until the platform is fully verified.
