Kazakhstan and Pakistan are Expanding Cooperation in the Banking Sector

Islamabad, May 15, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin received Executive Vice President of "Meezan Bank", Mr. Shaikh Raashed Rauf.
"Meezan Bank" is one of the largest banks in Pakistan and a recognized leader in Islamic banking, holding over 30% of the Islamic banking services market in the country.
During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for developing cooperation between the financial institutions of the two countries.
H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin spoke about the available opportunities within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and its advantages, also highlighting the high level of financial technology development in Kazakhstan. He proposed considering the potential for experience exchange and cooperation in this sector.
Special attention was given to the establishment of direct banking communication channels, the development of mutual settlement infrastructure, providing clients in both countries with access to available banking services, as well as cooperation in the field of Islamic banking.
Both sides expressed mutual interest in deepening cooperation and outlined concrete steps to realize the existing potential in this area.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize online negotiations between "Meezan Bank" and Kazakhstani commercial banks.
