KazAID's Dostyk: Diplomacy programme for Central Asian diplomats launched

May 27, 2025, Astana - the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan launched a two-day seminar ‘Transboundary Waters - Driver of Sustainable Development’ within the framework of the programme ‘Dostyk: Diplomacy’. The seminar is attended by representatives of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The programme is organised by KazAID.

The seminar was opened by Elmira Orazalieva, Vice-Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Olzhas Syzdykov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of KazAID. On the first day, participants discussed the role of water resources in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and A. Nurmaganbetov made a report. There was a session on exchange of experience in implementation of KOICA projects in Uzbekistan and Laos by Lee Hag Min (online) and a lecture on international water law by Janusz Pawletta (online).

Tomorrow is the practical sessions and debriefing.
