Renowned powerlifters from the Agadir village in the Shet district, Daribai Ospanov and Karaman Abdulkarim, won the World Championship again. The championship was held in Drammen, Norway. More than 1,400 athletes from 54 countries competed for the title of the strongest.

Daribai Ospanov announced his goal to win the World Cup several times two years ago. Then, on behalf of the Head of State, Akim of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev presented a letter of thanks to the champion aksakal. The Department of Physical Culture and Sports has rewarded the current athlete and coach with a certificate for sports equipment.

At the World Championships in Drammen, Daribai Ospanov competed in the 93 kg weight category in the 70+ age group. He took the third place in the classic barbell press, and the first in the equipped one. With this victory, the 76-year-old aksakal became a five-time world champion.

His son Karaman Abdulkarim squeezed 190 kg in the first form, 245 kg in the second. He was the best in both exercises and became a seven-time world champion.

Daribai Ospanov is a master of sports of international class, Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He does not intend to stop there. A year ago, after winning the world championship in the American city of Austin, Aksakal said he wanted to break the Dane's record. "He competed at the age of 94, and I'm going to compete at the age of 95," Daribai Ospanov shared at the celebration at the Department of Physical Culture and Sports.
