Working Visit of the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Brussels

Brussels, June 12–13, 2025 – Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Special Representative of the President on International Environmental Cooperation, Ms. Zulfiya Suleimenova, maid a working visit to Brussels to participate in the IEA 10th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency, organized by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
During the conference, Ms. Suleimenova delivered a speech at a high-level roundtable, presenting Kazakhstan’s vision on improving energy efficiency and achieving carbon neutrality. She emphasized that Kazakhstan views energy efficiency as a key element of its national climate policy and sustainable economic growth. Particular attention was given to the Strategy for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2060.
As part of the visit, Ms. Suleimenova held bilateral meetings with Director-General of the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) of the European Commission, Ms. D. Juul Jørgensen, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), Mr. J. Dusik, EU Special Envoy for Climate and Environment, Mr. A.Agotha, as well as the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Dr. F.Birol.
The interlocutors praised Kazakhstan’s efforts in promoting the climate agenda and transforming its national energy sector. They also noted a strong mutual interest in cooperation on methane emissions regulation. The parties agreed on the need for technical-level meetings to achieve more concrete outcomes.
In addition to participating in the conference, Ms. Suleimenova visited “TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium”. During her meeting with the company’s leadership, she was briefed on its areas of expertise, including inspection and certification services, laboratory testing, non-destructive testing, corrosion diagnostics, as well as management systems and personnel certification.
The working visit reaffirmed the mutual interest of both sides in strengthening the partnership. Special focus was given to issues of sustainable energy development, improving energy efficiency, and transitioning to clean energy sources as fundamental components of long-term energy security.
