The first regional energy forum - Power Central Asia + China, organized within the framework of the "Central Asia - China" summit, started its work in Astana. This event became a platform for signing agreements of strategic importance between the leading companies of Kazakhstan and China, and showed the growing role of the country as a center of regional energy integration and innovative development. Both sides showed readiness to introduce advanced technologies and implement large-scale projects. Within the framework of the forum, a limited agreement was signed with the POWERCHINA company aimed at the localization of production, the creation of a research center and the launch of a decarbonization fund. The main theme of the forum was energy transformation. In addition, cooperation was agreed with Huawei on digitization of the energy sector, and with China Southern Power Grid on HVDC high-voltage networks and hydroaccumulation stations.
Special attention was paid to projects in the field of renewable energy sources. As part of a joint project with China Energy, it is planned to launch the "Sauran" solar power plant in the Turkestan region. And the memorandum signed with CNCECI provides for the design of coal chemical plant and gas processing. These initiatives show Kazakhstan's desire to decarbonize and create a low-carbon economy.
One of the important decisions within the framework of the forum was to attract funds to Kazakhstan's energy projects. The agreement between China Construction Bank and QazaqGaz Group provides financing for innovative initiatives. In addition, the agreements concluded with Sinopec and Shanghai Jiaotong University laid the foundation for technological cooperation in the field of deep processing of hydrocarbons and development of hydrogen technologies. It was decided to create a permanent working secretariat, a digital platform for monitoring projects, and launch educational programs for training specialists in the future energy sector.
The participation of large national companies and international financial institutions such as KEGOC, Samruk-Energy, QazaqGaz testifies to the importance of the Power Central Asia + China forum.
