In Paris, the grand opening of the international exhibition "The Beginning of Inspiration: The Legacy of Nurgisa Tilendiev" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great composer, conductor, folk hero, Kazakh music jurist Nurgisa Tilendiev was held at the headquarters of UNESCO.

The centenary anniversary of the outstanding artist is a significant event not only for the Kazakh people, but for the entire civilized world. This important date was included in the list of anniversaries celebrated at the international level by UNESCO. Through this, the world public acknowledges Nurgisa Tilendiev's immeasurable contribution to humanity and once again recognizes the spiritual power of Kazakh art.

About 70 valuable relics from the Museums Association of Almaty are displayed in this exhibition. Among them are scores written by the composer himself, rare photographs, personal belongings, as well as "Dariga dombra" donated by Ahmet Zhubanov. It should be noted that Akhmet Zhubanov was the reason for Nurgisa's musical education. I am extremely grateful to the Almaty administration and UNESCO for the great respect shown to my father's spirit. My father was a very simple person. His talent and humanity were twin concepts that could not be separated from each other. He wrote all his works with love for his people and land. Inspiration was mostly revealed at night. He had such a natural hearing ability that he could hear the full volume of the work in his mind. He even managed to put that music on paper right away," said Dinzuhra Tylendieva, the conductor and artistic director of the Kazakh state academic folklore-ethnographic orchestra "Otyrar sazy" named after Nurgisa Tylendiev.

Ambassadors of UNESCO member countries, representatives of diplomatic missions, employees of international organizations, the French public and the Kazakh diaspora living there took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The exhibition will continue until June 19.

"Nurgisa Tylendiev, drawing energy from the spiritual memory of her people, was open to the modern world. His work represents the value we look for in all cultures - the combination of different elements. A single note can be beautiful on its own, but only the harmony of several notes creates true harmony. In the same way, by respecting diverse voices, we can create a truly meaningful world together. This is the core of UNESCO's mandate: strengthening peace through intercultural dialogue and cooperation," said UNESCO Deputy Director General Ernesto Ottone.

National musical instruments of Kazakh and other Turkic peoples were presented as part of the exhibition. The exposition of the exhibition, consisting of six thematic sections, reveals the many facets of the composer's work and reflects the deep roots and broad nature of Kazakh music.

«This exhibition is a great tribute to the legacy of a person who was the golden backbone of Kazakh music. This is a bright manifestation of the common spiritual space of the Turkic world at the global level," said Askar Abdrakhmanov, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to UNESCO. The exhibition was organized by the Association of Museums with the support of the Almaty city administration. The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO, the Foundation of Turkish Culture and Heritage participated in the implementation of the project. The project aims to widely introduce the rich Kazakh musical heritage to the foreign public.

«Nurgisa Tilendiev is a juridical figure of Kazakh music, having mastered genres such as song, tune, romance, opera, ballet, cantata, poem. Today, the memorial museum of Tylendiev operates in Almaty. A monument has also been erected. Also, this year the "Alatau" traditional art theater in Almaty will present a special performance on the occasion of the composer's anniversary. In general, the Paris-style exhibition is a sign of deep respect of the world community for the spiritual values of the Kazakh people. This work will continue," said Altynai Alimkhanova, Head of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection of the Department of Culture of Almaty.

The life path of Nurgisa Tilendiev is the chronicle of an entire era. He wrote more than 500 musical pieces, composed music for more than 50 drama productions and about 20 motion pictures. At the age of 12, he became the concertmaster of the orchestra, and at the age of 14, he became the assistant conductor. Despite his age, he went to the Great Patriotic War and after returning to the country, he graduated from the Kazakh State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy. Later, he studied at the conservatory in Moscow and became the first Kazakh student of that educational institution.

«Before that, we held exhibitions promoting Kazakh history and culture in South Korea, Turkey, Hungary, Serbia, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic. This exhibition in France is our joint work. Currently, re-exposition works are being carried out in the Tylendiev Museum, and educational events for young people are being organized. We intend to show the legacy of the great maestro in a new way and bring it to the hearts of the future generation," said Lazzat Sagindykova, director of the Museum Association of Almaty.
