A large-scale campaign titled “Meeting at the Gate” is being carried out across all institutions of the Criminal-Executive System of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the successful social reintegration of inmates released from places of deprivation of liberty.
On the day of release, representatives of local executive bodies, probation services, non-governmental organizations, and family members of inmates visit the institutions. Together with the administration, they provide legal, psychological, and social support to the individuals being released. Conversations are held to offer guidance and help prevent recidivism.
The main goal of the campaign is to prevent repeat offenses and facilitate the smooth reintegration of former inmates into society.
Thanks to this support, the family of an inmate from Institution No. 47 under the Pavlodar Regional Department of the Criminal-Executive System was able to meet their relative at the gate of the facility. After receiving legal assistance from representatives of local executive bodies and NGOs in the city of Ekibastuz, the released individual was warmly welcomed by loved ones.
Smiling faces, heartfelt embraces, and the support of family at the threshold of a new life mark an important step toward reintegration. The “Meeting at the Gate” campaign helps former inmates adapt to life in freedom and feel the support of society from their very first day outside.
