Scientific Research Connections with Hungarian Centers Discussed in Budapest

Budapest, 18 June 2025 – Kazakh delegation visited Hungary. The delegation was led by professor Duken Masimkhanuly, General Director of the R.B Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies under the Ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The delegation included Bolatbek Batyrkhan (PhD), a scholar of the relations between the Desht-i-Kipchaks and the Western world during the Golden Horde era, and Nurtas Abdimomynov (PhD), an expert in studying sources and academic literature in European and Oriental languages, as well as a specialist in statistical sources and archival data related to the history of Golden Horde.
On the first day of the visit, the scholars participated in the unveiling of the “Golden-Horned Saiga” memorial, a common symbol in Turkic mythology. The event was organized by the Budapest office of the Organization of Turkic states. In addition, the scholars had an opportunity to speak with Hungarian Turkologists, such as Professor István Vásáry.
With the coordination of the Embassy, a meeting was held in Institute of Hungarian Research (https://mki.gov.hu/en/). During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of bilateral collaboration, the development of scientific partnership in research area, the preparation of the joint scientific projects, the shared training of young scholars, internship opportunities and future cooperation.
In the negotiations held at the National Széchényi Library (https://oszk.hu/), the country’s main archive repository, the parties discussed ways to develop of bilateral partnership in the study of historically significant sources, manuscripts, and documents preserved in the Library. They also analyzed the partnership opportunities in the scientific research area and upcoming joint initiatives.
As the result of the discussion, an agreement has been reached to sign the memorandums mutual cooperation between the R.B Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies and aforementioned institutions.
