Kazakhstan Presents Human Rights Reforms at Events in Geneva

Geneva, 25 June 2025 — On the sidelines of the 144th Session of the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva, a side event titled “Protection of Prisoners’ Rights” was held with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan to the Swiss Confederation.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the councillor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, representative of the Prosecutor General's Office B.Kurmanov made presentations at the event.
In his speech, B.Kurmanov presented the results of large-scale interdepartmental work aimed at reducing the crime rate and number of prisoners, and strengthening the legal protection of convicts in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He noted positive changes in the positions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in global legal ratings and emphasized the role of the prosecutor's office in ensuring the legality of the treatment of detainees.
