"Law and Order": a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Anti-Corruption Issues was held in East Kazakhstan Region

In the East Kazakhstan region, as part of the promotion of the "Law and Order" narrative, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Anti-Corruption Commission under the Akimat of the region was held. The meeting was chaired by Akim of the region Nurymbet Saktaganov, with the participation of Denis Shakenov, Head of the Anti-Corruption Agency Department for East Kazakhstan region, as well as heads of law enforcement and authorized government agencies. The key topics on the agenda were the implementation of the Corruption Risk Map, such as the agro-industrial complex, the social sphere, construction, road infrastructure and business protection. In addition, the work of compliance services of the quasi-public sector was assessed, and problematic issues of completing long-term construction were discussed. In his opening remarks, the Governor of the region noted the need for a coordinated and systematic approach of all departments to the fight against corruption, focusing on preventive work as the main task. The head of the Anti-Corruption Service also supported this position, stressing that success is possible only if there is an open dialogue and the responsibility of the authorities concerned. The main report was delivered by Asylkhan Ashikov, First Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Agency Department for East Kazakhstan region. During the presentation, systemic problems were voiced, such as manipulations with the return of agricultural land, the lack of a uniform approach to the social obligations of subsurface users, the late completion of construction of facilities, the presence of administrative barriers in the implementation of investment projects, as well as insufficient involvement of compliance services in identifying and eliminating corruption risks. In addition, the positive effect of the introduction of cloud accounting in the social sphere was noted separately, which made it possible to identify more than 500 suspicious transactions worth about 140 million tenge. Following the meeting, concrete steps were proposed to eliminate violations and systematically prevent corruption. The Governor of the region instructed the heads of relevant departments to ensure strict fulfillment of the tasks set, stressing that the implementation of anti-corruption policy remains a priority of the regional authorities.
