Athens, 11 July 2025 – Timur Sultangozhin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, held talks with Ioannis Polychronopoulos, Founder and President of the Greek company «Polyeco».
The two sides discussed the potential for bilateral cooperation in waste management and the remediation of contaminated sites in Kazakhstan. The Ambassador emphasized that the development of green technologies aligns with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s strategic objectives for an accelerated transition to a circular economy, modernization of environmental infrastructure, and stronger control over hazardous waste.
«Polyeco Group» is the first company in Greece to hold a full set of licenses for integrated industrial and hazardous-waste management. In addition to safe disposal, the company implements advanced solutions for converting toxic residues into alternative fuel, physico-chemical treatment of liquid discharges, and rehabilitation of previously polluted areas.
The Ambassador visited a former ammunition plant in Athens, where «Polyeco» demonstrated technologies for neutralizing explosive residues and the successful reclamation of the site for civil use.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly explore cooperation prospects and establish interaction with governmental and private entities in Kazakhstan.
