On July 11, 2025, large-scale landscaping work was carried out in the Turan district of Shymkent, organized by the Nature Department. This event is one of the next stages within the framework of the “Green Shymkent” city program. The main goal of the event is to improve the ecological situation of the city, clean the air, create a comfortable environment for residents, and reduce the negative impact of urbanization by increasing green areas.

Turan district is a new and rapidly developing part of Shymkent. As this district has been filled with housing construction and infrastructure projects in recent years, the demand for greenery has also increased. With this in mind, most of the landscaping work on July 11 was concentrated in this area.

During the event:

  • 350 ornamental trees (spruce, maple, birch)

  • 1200 perennial flowers (lilac, lavender, rose, chrysanthemum)

  • 3,000 square meters of lawn were laid.

All landscaping elements were selected from heat-resistant and easy-to-care-for plants adapted to the city's climatic features. Trees and flowers were planted around schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, parks and playgrounds. In addition, vacant lots and the edge of the pedestrian path along the central Turan Avenue were landscaped.

About 200 volunteers, specialists from the Department of Nature, city residents and students participated in this event and worked together. Special equipment was used for the work - water trucks, soil-cultivating tractors and lawn mowers. A drip irrigation system was installed in the landscaped areas, creating conditions for the long-term preservation of greenery.

Another important element of the landscaping was soil improvement work . Specialists used special fertilizers and fertile soil mixtures to accelerate the growth and development of the planted plants.

At the end of the event, the head of the Nature Department made a speech and said that landscaping work will continue throughout the year. It was said that there is a plan to plant deciduous and fruit trees, especially in the fall. Residents were also advised to independently plant greenery in their yards, and it was announced that a campaign to distribute free seedlings is being considered for them.

This event is interconnected with previous planting works and is their logical continuation. For example, in the spring of 2023 , 200 fruit trees were planted in the same Turan district. Even then, residents and young people were active. In addition, in May 2024 , 5,000 trees were planted in the outskirts of the city as part of the "Green Belt" project. These works were mainly aimed at developing ecological buffer zones outside the city.

The advantage of the landscaping work in July 2025 is that it will be focused on the inner space of the Turan district, where the population is concentrated and active construction is underway. This landscaping is designed not only to preserve nature, but also to create an environment that directly affects the daily lives of residents. The newly planted greenery will make it possible to make areas for children to play, the elderly to walk, and the youth to relax shady, cool, and environmentally friendly.

In addition, this year's special feature is the installation of QR-boards . That is, special information signs are placed next to the planted trees, through which anyone can get information about the type of tree, the date of planting, and the rules for care. This approach also contributes to increasing the environmental awareness of children and young people.

In short, the landscaping work carried out in the Turan district on July 11 is a valuable investment in the city's nature. This work is not just a one-time event, but a long-term program that continues throughout the year and is based on a systematic plan. Compared to previous experiences, this year's event has reached a new level both in terms of scale and methods used. Now, if residents and authorities work together to properly care for and preserve these plants, the future of Shymkent will be truly green and comfortable.
