As part of the "Year of Worker Professions" declared in Kazakhstan in 2025, special attention is being paid to the country's water management sector. In this regard, from April 9, at the initiative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, domestic water specialists began to undergo a special training course in the People's Republic of China. This program is aimed at modernizing water security and infrastructure, which are very important for our country.

In the first phase, a group of 30 specialists will go to China, where they will improve their skills in industrial facilities and hydraulic structures in cooperation with the Power China company. In total, 105 specialists will study in China under this program. The training courses are more focused on practice than theory: specialists will master modern technologies directly at facilities such as reservoirs, dams, and water distribution systems.

The topics of the courses were selected in accordance with the specific needs of water management: water facility planning, flood prevention, recovery after natural disasters, efficient development of water resources, wastewater treatment and management. All expenses during the training were covered by the Chinese side.

The program involved specialists from all regions of the country. Shymkent was not left out of this initiative. Some of the city's qualified specialists working in the field of water resources entered the first batch of this international internship. This is a great opportunity for Shymkent engineers and technicians to get acquainted with the best practices in the field of water management and improve their knowledge.

Shymkent is one of the most densely populated regions of the country, where effective management of water resources, economical use and infrastructure modernization are an important part of urban life. The problem of water shortage and the deterioration of old systems is especially relevant for Shymkent. Therefore, the experience gained by the participating specialists from this city will be widely used in local projects in the future.

According to the government, a significant number of specialists working in the water sector will retire in the next 4-5 years. In addition, it is planned to create water utility institutions in each region of the country. In this regard, approximately 1,700 water specialists will be needed throughout the republic. This need also applies to the city of Shymkent - there is an increasing demand for qualified personnel to manage the water infrastructure there.

The knowledge and experience gained by Shymkent specialists studying in China will be useful in their daily work, in the modernization of water facilities in the city, in the prevention of risks, and in the implementation of new projects. This, in turn, will strengthen Shymkent's water security and improve the level of quality services provided to the population.

In general, this initiative is increasing the human resource potential of the country's water sector and is a basis for attracting the younger generation to the industry. Water resources are an important factor in the development of any country. For their effective management, not only technology is needed, but also qualified specialists. And for a rapidly developing city like Shymkent, such programs are a real investment in the future.

Thus, international internships undertaken within the framework of the "Year of Worker Professions" are an important and relevant step towards modernizing the domestic water sector, including solving the pressing problems of the city of Shymkent.
